Yesterday when hiking I came around a corner of the trail and I saw the sun shining on this little seedling sprout of a pine tree that was growing right out of the rock, literally from the rock – there was no dirt or anything of what seemed possible for this little tree to be nurtured in and to be able to flourish and live as it is.
I immediately thought of how God, our Jesus, the Creator can birth life from nothing or from such harsh desert type conditions because He creates and holds all things together (Colossians 1:15-17). My heart skipped with such joy as I looked with wonder at this little tree, knowing that our Jesus was literally birthing and breathing life in an impossible environment, especially with the drought conditions we are experiencing, and He reminded me to remain in the present with Him, not to assume things by looking at the ‘natural conditions’ of what seems impossible, but to fix my heart’s gaze upon Him always with an anticipation of Him to believe that all things are possible in, with, and through Christ because He is the Creator, the Messiah!
Jesus says to us this day,
“Do not call to mind the former things,
Or ponder things of the past.
Behold, I will do something new,
Now it will spring forth;
Will you not be aware of it?
I will even make a roadway in the wilderness,
Rivers in the desert.”
Isaiah 43:18-19
